Project #3 Complex Vector Illustration

CLASSIC BEAUTY

For this project I decided to do a complex vector illustration of an actress who I am inspired by, Emmy Rossum.  I am really fond of this photo of her because I felt I could really get creative with her dress, hair, and background.  I felt that the pose was simple enough to recreate and the details in this photo were complex enough for this project.  I primarily used the pencil tool for the intricate designs in the dress, background, and hair.

Artist Statement:

For the final look of my logo I decided to keep it interesting yet simple.  I chose for it to remain black and white to keep it simple as well.  I used the twirl tool to create an interesting effect for the symbol yet still staying within the general shape of the mask.  I added the linear gradient effect to make it look 3-dimensional, as well as adding a hint of a shadow around the eye holes of the mask.  The font is enlarged and easy to read from a far distance.
